“Most of us have small, sad places in our hearts. My father felt deeply but kept his feelings to himself. Or rather, being a writer, he let them escape in his writing. And so such sadnesses as there were put on cap and bells and emerged as Eeyore.”~C.R.Milne #WorldMentalHealthDay

Instead of worrying if they’ll like you, ask yourself if you are going to like them. Instead of trying to say the right thing, see if they say the right thing to you. Instead of looking for their approval, decide if you are willing to give yours.

I still use an address book. Handwritten. On purpose.

Who else remembers going to Service Merchandise, buying something, and then standing there waiting for it to come along on the...conveyor belt!?!?

Trauma doesn't make people stronger. It damages their nervous system. It hijacks their digestive track. It keeps the person in a constant loop of hypervigilance. To tell someone they are stronger because of trauma is to deny what it has cost them to survive.

The next couple days are going to be very difficult for me. Please send extra calming vibes, favorite quotes, affirmations, prayers, pretty pictures or whatever you use to send positive energy. Thanks so very much.☘️🧡

My brain's not been well in the last week, depression & anxiety have been winning, so in an attempt to bring it some dopamine & lower its stress hormone levels and to do the same for your brain as you scroll by, here are some floral finds from the garden in July:

Has anyone used a back brace to help with pain while waiting for PT? Certain kind you found helpful? Asking for a male family member.

Typically when I post I end up deleting after a couple days bc of no responses but I'm hoping I get a few responses with this. Bought this dress for a summer wedding I'm going to...would love to hear thoughts on what shoes I should look for to go with. Most of my shoes are black!

I've asked two people if they remember this show today and both looked at me like I was from another planet. Someone tell me they remember Rags to Riches! (Currently cleaning while blaring songs that were on this show) images.app.goo.gl/R5qRa41X9xgMch…

Don’t ever stop believing you can recover. Don’t ever give up. Even if it feels completely hopeless- life is worth sticking around for. Your best days might be just around the corner.

I’m convinced that the most important thing we can give another person is our undistracted, unhurried presence. Thank you for giving this to others today.

Today can be done now.

Caring for someone with #dementia or #alzheimers is not easy. Remember to try to take care of you as well. Small breaks when you can. In some of the hardest moments sometimes they just need you to hold their hand and tell them you are there. They are not alone. 💜 #love #grief

I think writers need courage as well as sensitivity. I think the aim of a novel isn't to always engineer the world into a better place or to offend the least amount of people. Sometimes it's about internal truth over external reaction. Sometimes you need to write and be damned.

You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one. Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own. It's just a matter of paying attention to this miracle. --Paulo Coelho
