Honored to be in this photo with this extraordinary group of people!
Thanks to all the #Article6 negotiators, @UNFCCC Secretariat & UK @cop26 Presidency team for working collectively and collegially to land a credible and balanced deal on the outstanding issue under the #ParisAgreement Work Programme at #COP26 #TogetherForOurPlanet
A good way to restore confidence would be for both sides to take responsibility for their impact on the #planet and not wait for others to do so. #Justice is important to create trust, but so is #goodwill, reasons @antsvetov tinyurl.com/y324kerr
There should be no naïve expectation that nations sitting at the high table of #climatepolicy will become collectively and individually committed, self-aware, responsible and truthful to the point where trust will flow, argues @antsvetov tinyurl.com/y324kerr
Back in the saddle with a short provocative text on trust in the international #climate regime for @orfonline After therapeutically listing all the grudges on both sides, I suggest some uncomfortable ways forward. Thx @samirsaran for the opportunity orfonline.org/expert-speak/o…
A crisis of trust between #developed and #developing nations is poisoning the #international #climate regime. Taking responsibility on both sides is the first step to restoring confidence, highlights @antsvetov tinyurl.com/y324kerr
What an effort! Congratulations, Joe!
We have an agreed decision on the 1st #GST at @COP28_UAE It’s not perfect but it is a step forward in our efforts to keep 1.5c in reach Humbled that @AlisonC_UK & I🇬🇧🤝🇸🇬played a small part in this key decision Congrats to @uaeclimateenvoy🇦🇪#COP28 team! unfccc.int/sites/default/…
This is really weird. It doesn’t ‘adopt’ the two recs, it ‘notes’ them and ‘requests to apply’ them, though the Sharm mandate was to ‘develop for consideration and adoption’. Don’t know if there is a practical difference, but shows that the CMA’s endorsement is weak…
#COP28 new text on Article 6.4 carbon markets ➡️adopts recommendations on methodologies & removals but gives less specific guidance on what comes next I hear some parties v unhappy so even tho no brackets, may get another version L: old R: new carbonbrief.org/interactive-tr…
We have agreed conclusions on GST at #SB59👇🏻 We turned 8 pg of bullets to 24 pg textual building blocks for a GST decision which will be forwarded to #COP28 for further consideration My co-chair @AlisonC_UK & I would like to thank all Parties for your support & cooperation
Today we’ve lost a friend
