Opening everywhere and blowing the roof off the box office this Friday, WICKED has arrived. My expectations "defied gravity". #WickedMovie #Wicked @UniversalPics For Screen Comment, my review. Do it up and enjoy! screencomment.com/2024/11/suprem…

Jesse Eisenberg's A REAL PAIN is a profound film of pain, humor, and existential examination of generational trauma. I was deeply moved by this wonderful piece of intelligent filmmaking. My review. Do it up and enjoy! @searchlightpics #arealpain themovierevue.com/themovierevue-…

It may not have the depth of the first film, but Ridley Scott is the one filmmaker working today who knows how to do an old school epic. A fun time at the movies and Denzel is a blast. For Screen Comment, my review. Do it up and enjoy! screencomment.com/2024/11/gladia…

And celebrating its streaming release (and the fact that I also forgot to share this one 😬), joined @TheLegendKuyaP on @TheNRW to chat about Francis First Coppola’s divisive and sadly ignored MEGALOPOLIS. Do it up and enjoy! youtu.be/hU2gfbIuLo8?si…

THE PIANO LESSON- Malcolm Washington's feature directorial debut is incredibly moving, powerful, and simply captivating. A worthy adaptation of August Wilson’s play. REVIEW: withashleyandco.com/2024/11/the-pi… #ThePianoLesson

GLADIATOR 2 is a bloody, action-packed visual feast. Paul Mescal shines. Denzel Washington chews the scenery in another iconic performance. Pedro Pascal…yes. Doesn’t hit as hard emotionally as the first but still a solid, crowd-pleasing spectacle. #GladiatorII

GLADIATOR II has none of the depth of the original, but excels at being a balls-out old school battle epic. Paul Mescal is intense. Pedro Pascal is fine. Denzel makes art out of being hammy. Big battles and muscles collide in a grand entertainment. Review coming next week.

Malcolm Washington makes a striking directorial debut with August Wilson's THE PIANO LESSON. Danielle Deadwyler gives the performance of the year. #ThePianoLesson @thepianolesson_ @netflix @themovierevue My review. Do it up and enjoy! themovierevue.com/the-piano-less…

On This Date In Film History- 1976 John Carpenter’s ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 was released. A masterful RIO BRAVO-esque exercise in intensity. Great cast, moody cinematography, tight filmmaking, & one of Carpenter’s best scores make this a pure classic and one Carpenter’s finest.

On This Date In Horror Film History- 1988 John Carpenter’s THEY LIVE was released. Smart writing, a good cast, another great Carpenter score. Roddy Piper should have been a bigger movie star after this one. He proved to have a damn great screen presence. A Carpenter classic.

Opening tomorrow, Clint Eastwood's JUROR #2, a prepostersly naive and dull courtroom thriller. A sad end (if it is to be so) for such a legendary career. My review of one of this year's worst films. themovierevue.com/juror-2-film-r…

Opening in select cities tomorrow, the rumors are true. Sean baker's ANORA is everything you've heard it is. Brutally funny, touching, raw, and one of the finest pictures of the year. My review. Do it up and enjoy!!! @AnoraFilm #Anora screencomment.com/2024/10/out-to…

The essence of the story and the tremendous trio of lead performances make this one work very well. Releasing in theaters this Friday and Netflix beginning November 13, my review of Emilia Pérez. @EmiliaPerezFilm @themovierevue @PatheFilms themovierevue.com/emilia-perez-f…

Wow, what a mess. A tremendously sloppy finale for the beloved villain and his buddy Eddie. My review of "Venom: The Last Dance", one of the year's worst films. themovierevue.com/venom-the-last…

Opening Friday, CONCLAVE is an involving and extremely well-designed and acted dramatic thriller. Fiennes has not been this great in decades and tucci gives tghe performance of his career. My review. Do it up and enjoy! @FocusFeatures themovierevue.com/conclave-film-…
