If you want this shift, @theA4LI is leading the charge for policy change and reallocation of $ toward longer, healthier lives.

We focus almost all of our care around diseases. The US has a disease-care system. We do pretty much the same thing with our research dollars. The majority of the NIH budget supports disease-related research. We need a science of healing. What keeps people well and thriving?

Awesome new initiative led by Vincere SAB member Dr Dario Alessi at @dundeeuni to translate LRRK2 insights into new therapies for Parkinson's disease.

Excited to try this! p.s. Flashback to 2022 when we used NetworkX to develop cell-type specific networks to identify new drivers of mitochondrial disruption in Parkinson's disease: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC93…

📣 Just announced: NetworkX accelerated by NVIDIA cuGraph is generally available, bringing speed and scale to the most popular #Python graph analytics library. 👀 Experience up to 500x speedups on large graph workloads in NetworkX with zero code changes. Tech blog ➡️…

Spring and I have been talking for years about the potential for "Free-range science" and the Agouti caught my eye in Vitalia as a great model to observe - very cool to see that others are diving in and publishing characterization!

🚨Fun Rodent alert ‼️ I’m excited to share a review of what is becoming one of my passion projects since around 2019, that blossom at @PennSAS . The future of Natural Neuroscience with the Agouti! Published today in Ethology. Sooo, What is an Agouti? 🧵 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/et…

At #StatSummit Anne Carpenter shared images showing that mitochondria distribute through the cell differently in bipolar patients compared to controls - in skin cells, highlighting the way mechanisms are not limited to the cells you might think of as linked to a disease.

This is indescribably important. The E&C committee doc was a starting-point, but will do more harm than good without changes like this. PLEASE sign and advocate to others - especially gerontology luminaries and anyone with decision-making influence. Massive kudos to A4LI!

Thank you to those we have shared and sign your support for our proposal for a new National Institute for Longevity and Aging Research (NILAR). We've reached 300 signatures so far! The U.S. faces a demographic shift with an increasing proportion of individuals aged 65 and older,…

I’d really like to see the FDA move to a 2 stage approval decoupling safety and efficacy. If safe anyone can buy (with appropriate labeling for who “safe” was tested with and how) Effective requires placebo controlled trial meeting endpoint. Both -> approved for prescription.

This was key to forming @VincereBio - human data can stack the deck for successful human drugs. I’ll go a step further and say genetics + multi-omics put you even closer to the goal.

Many of you might be aware of the commonly quoted success rate of ~10% in drug development. One of the efficient ways to rise this number is to add human genetics insights into the pipeline, as illustrated in the below plot from a 'Views and News' article I contributed to…
