To everyone who is afraid of what happens next, I share your fears. But what we do next is important. We have to learn from what happened. And then, make a plan. As we confront a second Trump presidency, here’s a path forward: 🧵

We're on track in 2024 to see at least 50,000 deaths from COVID...and that's just what there is data available for. The pandemic is not over and the newest variant (XEC) is so far proving to be as lethal as the early Delta strain in 2020. Stay safe, everyone.

U.S. reports more than 1,000 new COVID deaths for the 9th week in a row - BNO tracker

Inside Hurricane Milton, @saildrone reported wave height of 28.12 feet and wind gusts as strong as 75.95 mph while 40 nautical miles from the center of the storm. This research represents a collaborative endeavor to better understand the role of the ocean in hurricanes.

Florida Troopers rescued a dog that was tied to a fence in Hurricane Milton’s path. Thankfully this pup is in safe hands now and has already been to the vet.

Seeing people in gridlocked traffic trying to evacuate before hurricane Milton traps them in place has me so alarmed for disabled & elderly people who don’t drive, or cant physically evacuate themselves. Whats happening to rest homes? Prisons? Residential facilities?

Andrea (Taylor’s version) Reposted

Hurricane Milton's minimum pressure has dropped to the infamous sub-900 mb mark, with a central pressure of 897 mb, making it the 5th most intense hurricane in Atlantic history by central pressure. A monster Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 180 mph and gusts to 225 mph.

Very millennial of me, but I wanted to browse on a buzzfeed listacle and it won’t let me log in my account? I’ve tried twice and it keeps giving an error code. Is my profile deleted?

Grew up on the Mississippi. Born during the flood of 1993. I remember the 2008 flood and entire homes were submerged. This reminds me of that. Holy shit. Thinking of everyone. I used to work for the Disaster Distress Helpline and I wanna remind people of it! 800-985-5990

I can't comprehend what has happened in western North Carolina. This is Asheville. National Weather Service has said this is one of the region's most significant weather events of the modern era.

Andrea (Taylor’s version) Reposted

When you think of hurricanes, we usually think about the destruction they cause near the coastlines. Asheville is far, far inland, and these are the scenes from #TropicalStormHelene #HurricaneHelene
