Happy #InternationalWomensDay Being a feminist, by definition, means fighting for the *equality* of all genders. Let’s all be feminists (like my hubby❤️), ensure reproductive rights, support one another, eliminate the gender wealth gap and call for Peace & Justice for Palestine.

Access to surgery for babies born with congenital abnormalities remains a huge problem in LMICS #GlobalSurgery

8 million newborns are born with a congenital disorder each year. Many of these disorders can be prevented or treated. On World Birth Defect Day, we call on countries to put greater focus and investment into helping children born with a serious condition to have the best chance…

Healthcare cyber attack!

this is wild, but can’t say I’m surprised

How the AAMC leadership let things get to the point where their entire business model became dependent on extracting money from desperate residency applicants is simply an astounding feat of mismanagement. Now, any alternative application system threatens their very existence.

Of the many things that happen in a hospital when the power goes out, one haunts my memory, a story I have also heard over and over from other doctors who also worked in a hospital when it suddenly went dark A thread about mothers and their children👇🏽

Right now, in Gaza, the situation is horrific and catastrophic. Those hospitals and clinics that have not been evacuated are overwhelmed and are barely functioning. No electricity, no medical supplies. Surgeons in Al-Shifa hospital are now operating without painkillers.

If we want to be real about "health equity", we need to face the fact that Western medicine/public health frameworks are inadequate at addressing disease & psychological stress faced by Black, Brown, immigrant people. A Whole-Person Healing approach is needed now more than ever.

Honestly speechless. No #globalhealth course syllabus is complete without discussing Dr. Farmer and his work. He truly shaped the way we view global health today. Forever inspired and motivated by the lessons Dr. Paul Farmer has given us.

Partners In Health announced that its founder, Dr. Paul Farmer, unexpectedly passed away today in his sleep while in Rwanda. Dr. Farmer was 62 years old. He is survived by his wife, Didi Bertrand Farmer, and their three children. 1/🧵
