Subs are scoring more PL goals than ever before. It means there's a specific role for those who might have previously been considered 'just' a squad player. Duran, Wilson and the 'finishers' who can't (and shouldn't) get a start 🔽 theanalyst.com/2024/11/premie…

Quite a few players pulling out of international duty, almost as if this set of international fixtures isn't really what anyone wants or needs. theanalyst.com/eu/2024/10/foo…

Maddison becomes only the fifth player in PL history to reach 50 goals without scoring a single header, after Henry, De Bruyne, Duff and Beardsley.

James Maddison has now scored 50 Premier League goals. None of those have been a header - only Damien Duff (54) has scored more goals in the competition without one being headed. We look at the stats around his landmark goal: theanalyst.com/2024/11/james-…

9⃣ games into 2024-25, and Danny Welbeck is just 3⃣ goals off matching his best goal tally in a Premier League season. If he finally manages double figures for a season, could anyone be anything other than delighted for him, asks @alitweedale?

Piece with @Benson_92 rounding up the most damning stats of Erik ten Hag's United reign. We managed to limit ourselves to five but it could have been a fair few more. theanalyst.com/eu/2024/10/man…

Against Tottenham yesterday, Crystal Palace produced the fourth-highest tally of high turnovers by any team in a Premier League game this season (19), having previously managed 10 or fewer in all but one game. That meant 30.6% of their high turnovers came in one game vs Spurs.

Arsenal got lucky with injuries last season, but if they get through this game and their recent run with only the Bournemouth defeat on their record, it will be really, really impressive. Saka looks done in, too.

Spurs have gone behind at some point in 14 of their 24 away Premier League games under Ange Postecoglou., and they've only won one of those games - the 5-2 win at Burnley over a year ago.

Visited the Opta offices in London a short while ago and got to meet the excellent @OptaAnalyst team. Here’s a look at how data is collected; what’s the next xG; how tracking data can help us measure stuff like hold-up play; and more — with the kings of football stats

‘We’re not nerds in lab coats’ – a day with Opta’s number-crunchers Ever wondered how the football scientists capture 3,000 pieces of ‘event data’ per match, logging every pass, tackle, shot and interception? @HKhaliqueLoonat finds out Read more ⬇️ thetimes.com/sport/football…
