Had the conversation with @LFFstubs on Sunday about the need to move away from this site. Finally made my bluesky profile. Please let me know if you're on it.

I also started getting into Talking Heads in my late 20s.

I didn’t “get” Talking Heads until my 30s. The temptation is to calcify your taste in your teens/twenties, but it’s been cool to observe new openness to certain art as I age. One of life’s best experiences is suddenly finding oneself in “a place to receive” something

To celebrate the release of Bird, we've teamed up with @mubiuk to give away a limited edition Andrea Arnold @girlsontopstees & the Bird issue of @LWLies (ft. Franz Rogowski) 🕊 To enter, follow @picturehouses, RT this, and reply with a GIF of your favourite coming-of-age film!

Rather than to look for hope, one ought to aim to create meaning. We have only limited time and space, so might as well try to make it as purposeful as possible. So happy to be able to hear my favourite writer speak. Thanks @foyles

Word of the day is ‘recrudescence’ (17th century): the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve.

There is no easy way to talk about this. This week the UN announced we are on track to reach up to 3.1° Celsius of warming. We are slated to blow past the goals of the Paris Accords. Here's what this means. (1/9) 🧵

gender essentialism in hobbies (“weird girl music” “men don’t get fiona apple” “female rage cinema”) has been a disaster for cultural criticism. one of the purposes of art is to allow us to empathise with perspectives alien to our own. hate it so much

Riga IFF. „Beigas”. Šis ir nāvīgi nopietni kinoraksti.lv/festivali/riga…
