Things that DON'T guarantee trustworthy binaries: * Code signing * Curated appstores * Unsigned hashes(!) * Downloading from vendor/OS site

.@RoyalMail royalmail.com/services-near-… needs updating; the delivery office doesn't open on Thursday afternoon like it says on the web page since at least July 2024 (or is it July 2023?). Thanks for wasting my time.

.@BBCPolitics one of the under-appreciated dangers of (generative) AI is its capability to generate vast amounts of entirely false content - text, audio, pictures & video - that is both superficially plausible but takes a disproportionate amount of effort to refute effectively.

Talk is cheap, especially when you know the reason you're doing this is because Stop Killing Games is gaining traction. Here's a link to both the initiative and how you can help if you're not in the EU eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#/s… stopkillinggames.com

No, not 💯 Elon. In the U.K. they’re not going round ‘finding people who’ve said something they disagree with and putting them in a f—king cage.’ Some people are being charged for inciting racial hatred and for organising acts of violence. It’s very specific, and it’s the law in…

Oh, @LidlGB, I wish you'd cover the original barcodes on packaging with your orange reduced stickers. That's twice I've now scanned the original barcode and paid full price for short-dated food, and a parent has done the same thing from a different store.

Hot take: if Linux did become the defacto desktop OS it would quickly be flooded with for-profit closed source software and a user base primarily interested in outcomes and ease of use, and not the OS itself. Traditional Linux users would become a marginalised minority and Linux…

We're all clowning on the company, but a problem like this is really a larger issue in the update governance and I hope the individuals find a way back to confidence after this :( Something went really wrong.

What we did was use the advanced restart options to launch the command prompt, skip the bitlocker key ask which then brought us to drive X and ran "bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal"which let us boot into safemode and delete the sys file causing the bsod.

Alex Butcher (@[email protected]) Reposted

You could build a PXE boot WIM file and have it execute a fix script but that will require telling everyone how to boot over the network. Very few have this skillset though and will likely require reconfiguring every network to do DHCP relay and won't work if machine locked down.

Question as someone that doesn't really manage large-scale firms, what *can* you do if you did have 100s of PCs that all bsod on boot? Short of going to every single one in person to plug in a boot usb or whatever

Hey @CrowdStrike , if you think you need to inject yourself into other processes, could you please do this without crashing them? This has happened to several of my customers, without them knowing what's going on. Fix this! Signed, Windows Developers

Got a question from a BruteRatel operator in the BRC4 discord channel as to what the newly implemented csxumd64_xxxxx.dll module in Crowdstrike does. So, heres my little explanation post reversing it. Crowdstrike implants 3 DLLs in their latest version - umppcxxxxx.dll,…

Also, according to thetimes.com/business-money… the only other economist who has held the post of Chancellor was Hugh Dalton Jul 1945-Nov 1947. Experts are back!

Key chart to keep in mind as the Conservatives suffer their worst ever defeat: The Tories didn’t lose this election because they were too right wing on some issues or too left wing on others. They lost because voters of all stripes judged them to be incompetent and dishonest.

While I'm delighted to see the back of the Tories, this election should remind us that our electoral system is not fit for purpose. It should not be possible to achieve a massive majority on a minority of the vote.

A much more balanced&sensible report thanks to the contribution from Danny Altmann who also shows due consideration to those of us who are CEV. We need protecting especially whilst accessing vital healthcare, hospitals are rife with it, 6 wards at my local one so thank you🙏🙏🙏
