It's that time of the year again where I tell everyone what I've been working on because...I've launched something (and normally I just stay quiet about it) but today there's a thread (and some links) coming.....

The Oakland A’s were killed by greed. Do not allow the people responsible for this to spin it any other way. John Fisher did not have to move this team. Major League Baseball and its owners did not need to be complicit in it. This was a choice. A wrong one. History will sneer.

How I would love to see Jean-Michel Jarre’s laser harp light up the Eiffel Tower during the #OpeningCeremony

A thread looking forward to our Scottish Pop Special at The Phoenix tonight. howdoesitfeel.co.uk/thephoenix.html My 50 favourite Scottish artists. 1. The Associates. From Scotland and also from another planet. Party Fears Two still sounds incredible, utterly fearless, completely magical.

The Bay Bridge is the great leveller of the Bay Area: You might drive a $600K McLaren but you’re still stuck in the same traffic as everyone else.

I used Rave Fabricare, the specialist dry cleaner recommended by @dieworkwear, to have a suede skirt restored and a special sweater cleaned, and I can honestly say they were worth every cent. I can’t wait to wear these beauties again this winter.

This sucks big time

Of all the store and business closures announced in San Francisco recently, this one might hurt the most. Pour one out for Anchor Brewing. sfchronicle.com/food/wine/arti…

Having an indie pop blog in the late 2000s was such a special time. It was a really fun community to be a part of in some small way, particularly as I’m musically inept.

everyone is trying to come up with a copy of twitter when we actually want a copy of 2007-2012 niche hobby blogs with a Google RSS reader that aggregated them into one feed

Making an All Star team is suppose to be about the real “Stars”? How does Esteury Ruiz not make the team? By far the best that the A’s have this season and his numbers say it!! Bad, bad mistake!!

what if the 2023 Oakland A's win 20 games in a row?

Best team in baseball baby 💚💛

Make it 6 straight for the green and gold! The @Athletics take it to baseball's best team.

Not sure how well known this was in the US, but in the 1980s and 90s, Tina Turner partnered with Australia's National Rugby League (NRL) in one of their most successful advertising campaigns ever, culminating in her performing at the 1993 rugby grand final in Sydney.

I feel like those of us from QLD and NSW will mourn Tina Turner’s death more deeply, given her generational defining performance of “Simply The Best” at the Winfield Cup rugby league grand final in 1993, and the fact that we all dance to Nutbush City Limits at every wedding.

Whenever I hear mention of Bluesky these days, I greatly enjoy thinking about this Sacramento gem music.apple.com/us/album/blue-…

Well, this sucks

Statement from the A’s:

This A’s team is proving very difficult to watch this year.

A silly game was played at the Coliseum tonight. A's out-hit Mets 13-11 and got smoked 17-6. A's walked Oakland franchise record 17 batters. Finally saw strikes when C Carlos Perez took the mound in the ninth. Fun fact: Oakland's payroll is $300 million tinier than the Mets'.
