if you want to try what I was working on for the past couple of months, sign up for the new free redpanda offering redpanda.com/redpanda-cloud…
GOING LIVE in ~15mins go.redpanda.com/redpanda-launc… w/ the ultimate boss @eisokant talking about #streaming and foundational models let's go! 🚀
every @redpandadata all-hands I am reminded of the fact that @emaxerrno is the best CEO I had the pleasure to work with. He always focuses on the right stuff and communicates so clearly all the time. KUDOS!
I love remote work but working in a team for 1.5y while meeting only 1 person in real life is starting to get to me. Gosh I miss coffee breaks and meeting with colleagues over lunch, talking about life and work 💜
we are looking for kubernetes engineer to work on the redpanda operator. The team here is really great. Ping me if you are interested boards.greenhouse.io/redpandadata/j…
many companies talk about diversity but @redpandadata is one of few really making that happen 🙏👏 actively hiring underrepresented ppl, coaching more junior folks, maternity leave, reduced working hours. So glad to be part of this team 💜
every time I am in a meeting, person is talking and I hear slack pinging all the time I always wonder, how that person manages do any work during the day and actually focus. Disabling sounds/notifications was focus 101 for me.
I think I am missing something but why are people so angry that enterprises will have to start paying for docker soon? Isn't it normal to pay for software one uses for work?
I think all the teams I've been in there was point in time when people tried cancelling standups. Most time it succeeded. I think it almost always yields less collaboration especially in a remote team because the barrier is just bigger there and the relationships weaker.
my favourite thing about remote work is that you can get access to super-interesting work and all that from a place where you feel like home. Wherever that is 💜
I love doing system design interviews. The best thing is that there is no right answer and based on person's background everyone approaches it differently. I feel like I almost always learn something myself 💜
I love working across timezones. I love when my colleague works on stuff that were missing end of my day and leaves out a branch that I can finish during my day. #teamSpirit #working247
Haha working for US based companies I definitely feel this 😀 European out-of-offices: “I’m away camping for the summer. Email again in September” American out-of-offices: “I have left the office for two hours to undergo kidney surgery but you can reach me on my cell anytime”
I am curious how do people document architecture and architectural decisions? Where do you put your documentation and what do you do to keep it up to date?
I am really grateful I was able to be part of @RinkiyaKeDad journey into the kubernetes world and be his mentor in LFX mentorship program. Truly great experience. I think he has tons of great OSS contributions ahead of him 💜 (also thx @dims for the opportunity)
Here is @RinkiyaKeDad's Kubernetes story about how he got a mentorship in the @linuxfoundation when he was discovered by @JimBugwadia and later mentored by @dims and others. The deadline for the next round of mentorships is May 17th so sign up soon! lfx.linuxfoundation.org/tools/mentorsh…
call me weird but I just love writing design docs. My favorite part is when I receive feedback from the team about all the things I missed or could be improved. All that asynchronously, without meetings 💜
Another part of the series about kubernetes operators, this time about conflict errors alenkacz.medium.com/kubernetes-ope…
I was part of team that was 'forced' to do this dual track scrum in the past. It felt like waterfall to me. I guess my feeling was right :)
"Dual Track" Scrum is not Scrum (or Agile, for that matter). It's just another way to try to sneak waterfall into an agile process to the detriment of that process. By creating a separate "discovery" phase, you lengthen your lead time (idea-to-customer's-hands time). 1/2
My Kubecon talk sadly got rejected. But seeing how many amazing and knowledgeable people got rejected as well makes me not really sad. Anyway, I'll polish my proposal and I'll be back 😎
