yes. yes. yes.

You can build a loyal church following by bashing other churches & ministries. It won't be healthy or have the aroma of Christ. But it might big, energetic, and loyal (until it isn't). Your call.

me thinks: pastoral imitation is biblical. pastoral impersonation isn’t. cf. Heb. 13:7

“Friendship doubles joy and cuts grief in half.” Francis Bacon…who has proven that math in your life? Maybe tell them today.

solid analysis.

I listened to Andy Stanley's sermon from Sunday explaining the conference they hosted and their approach to ministry to same-sex attracted & gay people (and their families). Some of it was really great. And some of it was really dangerous. Some reflections on both... Stanley…

bravo for this Biblical discernment, @gavinortlund…clear and convictional with a gospel-informed compassion. so needed. youtu.be/K6nlpijFz60

Gold.

What separates the best preachers from everyone else? Regardless of background, tradition, personality, ethnicity, or level of fame, they all have something in common. The best preachers consistently close these 7 gaps:

τετέλεσται

Many who rightfully champion theological orthodoxy also wrongfully champion relational heresy…what we Biblically believe about God and how we Biblically treat people (especially His people) ought to be obviously paired. (Thanks @lukedsimmons for thinking this out with me today.)

Christian, remember that every consequence that isn’t eternal hell for us is a grace…delivered in love, powerful for change, and anchored to the good purposes of your heavenly Father (cf. Hebrews 12:7-11). You are loved…even in failures.

All chill seems out of the question at this point, but this is a message that needs to be received. Disagreement doesn't have to include disembowelment. Wrong doesn't have to be synonymous with wicked. Correct doesn't have to be synonymous with cruel. Seems James 3:17-18 is MIA.

Eventually you guys are going to run out of litmus tests for ecclesial faithfulness. Does the church preach the gospel, celebrate the ordinances, live missionally? It’s normal to disagree, but not all disagreements need to be raised to the level of fidelity. Just chill.

Church planter, be wary of “only one WAY to plant a church” talk. Acts is descriptive vs prescriptive; there are various strategies used by God to build a core team. People may be coming with you, may be gathered from other churches, and may be saved into it. Rejoice in them all.

Thankful to be serving Christ with friends new and old under the leadership of my bro @vancepitman in this season for Send Network…increased partnership with Vintage Mission (@vintage_mission) is a strategic move that thrills me for what else God might do in our future together.

We also introduced our first-ever Lead Team of Planters: 1. Adam Bailie (@ahbailie) 2. Brian Bloye (@brianbloye) 3. Dean Fulks (@deanfulks) 4. Dean Inserra (@deaninserra)
