If you can speak English, you can learn German. You can count sieben, acht & neun, drink Milch und Bier, start your week on Montag and end on Freitag. And as a key language of business, science, engineering & diplomacy, it's a win-win. German makes connections & opens doors.
What they don't tell you is You can learn your target language enough to memorize a speech in just a matter of weeks. The question is: How deliberate is your methodology?

If you really want to learn a language I recommend the holy quadrinity of Anki (simple, best flashcard app, load it up yourself), Italki (for speaking practice, make sure to find a teacher that feels like they could be your friend/someone you can talkt to for hours)...
Duolingo is mid
Duolingo is so funny because the internet has made it easier than ever to learn a foreign language (flashcard apps; YouTube, podcasts, etc; digital articles, pdfs, etc; sites like Italki; Wiktionary) and they've distracted everyone with an app that helps you not learn a language.
