A beautiful tribute to my young cousin, Louisa, who was taken from us last week. It would be a great honor to her memory to pass this bill to address medical debt, an issue she worked on while alive. No one should have to choose between their health & their hunger.
And I’m asking for the first part of this package to be named in honor of a brilliant public servant taken from us far too soon: The Louisa Carman Medical Debt Relief Act. Louisa was a major force behind these reforms. May we press forward in her honor.
Wow. Amazing to see in print @bhbradlow I recommend one for every member of the household!
Thank you to @NJSenTurner @ASWReyJackson @SenMTeresaRuiz @DeAngeloLD14 @asmverrelli @herbconaway for sponsoring the Louisa Carman Medical Debt Relief Act. An important bill for NJ families struggling with medical costs & a great tribute to our cousin.
My family’s op-ed in support of the medical debt relief bill carrying our dear Louisa’s name was published today in the Star-Ledger. We hope the New Jersey legislature will pass this bill expeditiously. @MattFriedmanNJ nj.com/opinion/2024/0…

I am so deeply moved that @GovMurphy will announce this afternoon a bill to enable relief for medical debt for New Jersey residents, named after my dearly departed cousin Louisa Carman. nj.com/politics/2024/…
The first highlight of @GovMurphy’s State of New Jersey speech yesterday, according to the @nytimes, is the Louisa Carman Medical Debt Relief Act. A beautiful and important tribute. Let’s get this bill into law! nytimes.com/2024/01/09/nyr…
Honored to have Andrew Gregory here with us today. Andrew’s wife, Casey, tragically passed away from ovarian cancer in November. In her honor, he launched a fundraising campaign to help families struggling to pay medical debts.
Let’s work to ensure our neighbors don’t have to start a GoFundMe campaign to afford health care. Today, I’m calling on our Legislature to enact a new package to help families avoid being caught in a medical debt trap and require medical bills to be clear & transparent.
And I’m asking for the first part of this package to be named in honor of a brilliant public servant taken from us far too soon: The Louisa Carman Medical Debt Relief Act. Louisa was a major force behind these reforms. May we press forward in her honor.

Although #EastAfrica’s #DigitalEconomy is booming, uneven access could stunt its long-term growth. @MawinguNetworks just teamed up with @USTDA to bring affordable internet to the region's underserved communities, and we’re thrilled to support this initiative. #ProudPartner

This is what leads to our homeless crisis! We must stop evictions and expand support for legal services through right to counsel! Thx @ShaunAbreu for keeping us focused on the task at hand!
VERY BAD news for renters in NYC: @LegalAidNYC & @nylag are overwhelmed and can't take new clients in Queens. This means tenants may face housing court alone, making them much more likely to be evicted. OCA must slow eviction cases so people can exercise their right to counsel!
