Will you move your production apps to #dotnet 9 or wait for .NET 10 (LTS)? Why? 🤔

From a former Microsoft employee: Mikhail Parakhin, former head of Bing Search and Microsoft Advertising, and his gang of Bing yes-men are to blame for Edge and Windows being packed with ads, scams, and other unwanted junk. Shocker.

I use the Immediate Window in Visual Studio all the time while debugging. It already has IntelliSense but it would be cool if it had syntax highlighting too. If you think so too, vote here: developercommunity.visualstudio.com/t/Add-syntax-c…

Cookie banners. Just visited a US website, from the US, that ships a 457.11kB (minified!) JS bundle of a GDPR "banner SDK" from a "trust" provider. Over 3x the size of React. It ships its very own version of jQuery inside. Going to the "trust" provider website yields a 5.3s…

Be careful everyone, this happened in greystones. The lady's daughter was scammed out of €1000, using a QR code that she scanned to pay for parking.

Hey look, open source got its very own massive-scale rug pull. This will dampen so many OSS developers ambitions, we’ll see the fallout of this for years to come. People will think twice before building plugin businesses now. Insanity. So much damage, and for what?

This is how the masses will unknowingly update from the real authentic @wp_acf to SCF. #WPEngine #WordPress #wpdrama

The Matt Mullenweg takeover of ACF is breaking WordPress sites This is the result of making an unexpected change to a critical plugin that's used on 2 million live sites and you push it to prod on a Saturday morning! 😱 "Thank you Matt Mullenweg for ruining my Sunday"

So, the ACF hijack isn't JUST super shady, but also actively breaking shit in the wild. @wp_acf #WordPress #WordPressDrama news.ycombinator.com/item?id=418307…

Windows. My whole career. Only Windows. If you think xplat dev isn’t possible or practical or easy on Windows, try Googling @dotnet, then "wsl," and check out @visualstudio — the most productive IDE, and it’s Windows-only. You likely think this because of three important biases:…

I can understand engineers who use Linux. I can understand engineers who use macOS. I really don’t understand engineers who use Windows (except windows app developers). By understand I mean I can see the value system they operate under. It just seems bad for non-Windows dev work

Without the Internet Archive, so much would become lost. We're not talking about only lost media either, actual pieces of HISTORY would become lost forever. The moment the Internet Archive comes back, we have to support this website more than we ever have.

PSA to @umbraco Commerce users: Umbraco Commerce will crash and not create orders after upgrading to .NET 8.0.10 due to it doing reflection on internal .NET state: github.com/umbraco/Umbrac…. Only solution is downgrade to .NET 8.0.8. #UmbracoCommerce
