Transgenerational trauma is often mislabeled as mental illness. People will spend decades believing their "mental illness" was passed down genetically. This is why it's so important to educate individuals that trauma is not a mental illness.
Dr Hickox’s website mentions no research publications (vs my over 200) but non researchers can critique researchers. She does write eloquently about what she calls “mental illness” in herself and her family, and explains honestly why critique of her illness model upsets her so.
