Stuffed Buzzard

@_mabt

Lone FM & HR buzzard in a small company. Trying not to burst. I never lie on my CV, 'coz it creases it.

I've just been described as a 'powerhouse' ... & recently described as a 'quality professional'. I've only been in the new job 6 months & it feels too good to be true, after I was institutionalised by the indifference of the last place 🦅🥹

That's all, folks. The company went pop and we're all redundant, owed salary, having to scrape some money back from the government fund. Let's hope there's a job out there for me somewhere - I can tolerate mild idiocy among colleagues, I just can't bear being bored 🙃🫤

People keep on coming to me having taken 0 seconds to check or try something to solve their problem. I'm meant to embrace their haplessness with aid & support (instead of derision & ridicule). It's getting harder to bite my tongue 😬😤

Is it acceptable to reply to someone who (I guess) is trying to help, by saying, "I see your specialist subject is: stating the bleedin' obvious!" (+ much rolling of eyes) ... when they have done nothing but state the bleedin' obvious? 🤔

When a colleague claims they can't sign a pdf document & it's someone who manipulates images for their living - I reserve the right to lose all respect. I worked out how to do it & I'm no artist / tech whizz. Why am I surrounded by the least resourceful people? 😩

Is it just me, or do most HR types cringe & think, 'oh Jeeez, what now?!' each time someone messages to ask for a private conversation 🤔

Once again, a 'wellbeing' webinar scheduled during the lunch hour. Do I have to spell it out? 🙄

Why's it so hard for people to communicate? I’m surrounded by people starting with the negatives, giving 1/2 a story, then I have to deal with the consequences. Bunch of sh*theads. (Obviously I can’t tell them that. I have to say “you did really well with that bit - yay!") 🤬

So many surveys calling & asking questions that are barely relevant to a struggling, woefully underresourced business - they think we have departments with defined roles & managers with time to manage & HR with capacity to undertake anything other than admin 😫
