I would call this another win for science. The better weather forecasting gets, the more comfortable people have gotten rescheduling major events, cancelling school, etc. well in advance: kcci.com/article/des-mo…">kcci.com/article/des-mo… kcci.com/article/des-mo…">kcci.com/article/des-mo…

I realized the other day that it was 10 years ago I started going to @CentralIowaNWA meetings as a student. Always educational!

We had a full house hosting the Central Iowa National Weather Association meeting at our office this evening. The group consisted of NWS and broadcast meteorologists along with ISU meteorology professors and students. It was great to have everyone here! @CentralIowaNWA

NHC Advisory 1 for Tropical Depression 14 had landfall only 12 miles north of where Milton eventually made landfall, at a 4-day lead time. One might say they're pretty good at their jobs.

Hot pink (125+ kt) disappears, BUT red/orange (80-100 kt) expands. That's why categories can be misleading. Top wind speed drops, but a larger area gets destructive impacts.

The evolution of Hurricane #Milton's wind field over the last 3 days from recon observations. Lots to digest here, but the transformation in just the last 6 hours is incredible.

On top of all the recent weather misinformation, people are now sharing a snow forecast I posted on FB in January.
