🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 In a happy accident, McMaster researchers discovered that their phages had joined together to form sunflower-shaped structures, making them significantly more efficient at targeting elusive bacteria. brighterworld.mcmaster.ca/articles/resea…

📢 I’m excited to share our latest publication in Advanced Functional Materials🌟 We developed a novel, nature-inspired method using high-pressure CO₂ to create ultraporous, 3D bio-networks from bacteriophages. 📖 Read more here: lnkd.in/gyv7njTm brighterworld.mcmaster.ca/articles/resea…

Researchers in Canada and China treating bacteria-eating viruses so they could be viewed alive under an electron microscope found that they coalesced into flower-like shapes - and that this made them 100 times more efficient. @McMasterU @SEU1902_NJ @TohidDidar @Z_Doust

*Really cool* work published in @Nature Administration of a phage-derived #antibacterial enzyme specific to biofilm-forming pathogenic E. faecalis—which is difficult to eliminate with existing antibiotics—may protect against graft versus host disease 💊 nature.com/articles/s4158…

A high throughput platform has been developed for the rapid identification of personalised #phages to treat multidrug #resistant bacterial infections🧬💊 @Z_Dous @TohidDidar @McMasterIIDR @McMasterEng nature.com/articles/s4146…

Phage therapy is in need of transformative technologies to enhance accessibility. This is what we aim to do with our phage tablets. The phage tablets adress a real need and could be a game changer in phage therapy and beyond. nature.com/articles/s4146… @NatureComms @NaturePortfolio

Fereshteh Bayat (@McMasterU) etal have designed a high-throughput #phage screening platform comprised of a library of individual shelf-stable, ready-to-use phages, in solid tablets that include a phage + luciferin + luciferase. The test takes 30-120 min! buff.ly/3SbL6HR

We have been relying on the same basic tools and laborious lab techniques to handle and screen phages that our predecessors were using over 100 years ago when phages were first discovered. To realize the promise of phage therapy, we need disruptive innovation.

IIDR members @TohidDidar and @Z_Doust have developed a new way to store, identify, and share bacteriophages. These beneficial viruses, which prey on bacteria, show great promise as a treatment alternative for antibiotic-resistant infections. brighterworld.mcmaster.ca/articles/resea…
