In establishing an H2 economy the main challenge is storage of the gas. The serendipitous discovery by @Ruihua_Zhang93 that storage in hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) marks a milestone. The article in @NatureChemistry celebrates the end of our first year @HKUniversity

Chemists are always in awe of what nature can make, but we do not always make exactly what nature makes. In this @J_A_C_S paper, with change of just one carbon - from CH2 to C=O, a pseudo-polysaccharide could achieve both facile polymerization and depolymerization.#glycotime

Building on reticular chemistry principles, we’ve expanded our covalent organic pillars into a larger iCOPs family. These discrete nanotubular structures act as deep cavitands, ideal for hosting long alkyl guests. Check out the extensive X-ray crystal structures at @J_A_C_S!

For the past 16 years (2008-2023) my research group & I had the great good fortune to work very closely with Charlotte Stern. Our many collaborations with Charlotte requiring solid-state (super)structures have resulted in >70 joint publications: she is worth her weight in gold!

Meet Charlotte Stern! 👋 Charlotte is an X-Ray Crystallography Specialist in the Integrated Molecular Structure Education and Research Center (@imserc). For over 30 years her work has contributed to groundbreaking research happening at @NUChemistry ➡️ bit.ly/3xz5ThA

I was bullied for the first two decades of my academic career at Sheffield. This experience has left me absolutely determined to call out bullies wherever I meet them round the globe. More often than not the bullies turn out to be cowards.

Truly one of things I admire most about Fraser is that he is not afraid of speaking out when he sees bullying.

π-Interaction-driven molecular assembly to form π-diamonds using chair-shape molecules as building blocks. Congratulations to the creative Westlake team! @zhichang_liu I am wondering when and how can we see similar research outcome using carbohydrates as scaffolds.

No surprise to me, Yong. I told you before you left Hong Kong for Dunkirk that your talk would be well received and it was. Congratulations!

Thank you for your very kind words! Although it is my first experience attending the International Cyclodextrin Symposium (ICS), I enjoyed interacting with the community. So much interesting science as well.
