Pro-American Iranians being allowed to escape the regime are an asset to fuel an opposition against the regime. Banning them makes no sense.
It would make sense to ban Iranian visitors who are parts of the regime or who indicate during vetting that they support the Iranian govt.
It would make sense to do ideological vetting however against Iranian visitors.
A visa ban would be appropriate against most Arab nations and Pakistan. A visa ban against Pro-American Iranians makes zero sense.
No Iranian has ever committed an act of terror against the US. We need to encourage more exchange with Pro-Western Iranians not Visa bans.
