Amazing how concrete can prevent a delivery truck from parking in the bike lane in a way that paint cannot

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. Politician claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data. Great, @citynewsTO toronto.citynews.ca/video/2024/10/…

If the typical journalist covered crime the way they cover traffic crashes, it would look like this:

Hi @dicefm, I'm trying to buy tickets to see #goatgirl at #paralel62 for #Soundhood but I need to register, but when I hit register I'm told to contact support. But your support msg function won't let me send a message. I just want gig tickets! @SON_EG

It's strange to me that most people don't see how crazy it is to have cars dominating towns and cities. In much of #Canterbury no room for parents and children to pass on the pavement while cars thunder by.

“While Mayor, I was often asked ‘how have you been able to afford this in #Copenhagen?’ I’d reply, ‘how have you been able to NOT afford it? 25 years ago we were a few days away from going bankrupt. So the city invested in the cheapest infrastructure… bicycling.” — @mortenkabell

Cargo-bikes for the voluntary firefighters. They might be on the scene much more quickly than the big fire engine and are much more flexible when there is no need for a massive intervention.

This is still one of my favourite videos ever, perfectly explaining how much public money goes to NOT solve congestion. “It means you spend a lot of money now for a very short-term benefit." Via Australia’s great show “Utopia” on @ABCTV Please share!

We've been saying this for years. If you are genuinely an essential car user, getting the others on to buses is good news for you.

Once upon a time, leaving your house to find bikes scattered around was an ominous sign you were in the start of an apocalypse. Now it’s just Lime Bike’s business model.

Interesting that engineers think there's a high enough chance of driving into a ditch that guardrail is installed. But engineering measures to slow down drivers are resisted. I'm not saying all sidewalks need guardrail, just that status quo engineering priorities are curious.
