The Sunday next before Advent: 24 November 2024. Welcome to ‘Stir up Sunday’ and the final week of the liturgical year. #anglican #BCP The rubrics require the collect, epistle, and gospel for Trinity 25 (although it is actually Trinity 26 today).
2) tied in both themes so I went with the title The Gospel According to Ruth. I recently finished teaching Ruth in Sunday School and there are so many gospel overtures. It's short but powerful ! If you think of it pray for me that God's word would speak through me & to others ❤️
Jesus once asked, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). It’s a fair question. Imagine a husband who calls his wife, “Sweetheart,” but treats her with bitter contempt. Or a quarterback who calls his coach “Boss” but runs the exact opposite…
Every sin at root is a lack of gratitude for the gift that the sin misuses. The things of the natural order are created as good and given as a gift. Puritanical despising of these gifts *leads* one into sin. If we would vanquish a sin, we must habitually thank God for the gift.
