🎉 Congrats to Anju Abraham from @WEHI_research on receiving a SEED grant. The project aims to improve the sensitivity of an established assay that detects P. vivax antigens in the blood. This would enable detection of individuals with asymptomatic and hidden P. vivax infections.

We are excited to share our new findings on the NEK1 kinase in male gamete formation and kinetochore attachment in Plasmodium. We dedicate this paper to Professor Andrew Fry (1966-2024). Great collaborations. With Mathieu Brochet, @EelcoTromer @Zeeshan_MF @PLOSBiology

The #malaria parasite #Plasmodium undergoes a unique #endomitosis during male gametogenesis. @Zeeshan_M @RitaTewari &co show that NEK1 kinase is vital for MTOC function & chromosome segregation, facilitating rapid endomitosis in Plasmodium #PLOSBiology plos.io/4e4MzJ3
