I LOVE this because the goal should always be to move kids to proficiency not just through the grade.

💥 Intervention is systematically moving a #student to proficiency on a critical skill using a research-based practice. (#Homework support doesn't count.) #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Educators #UDL #TeacherTwitter

"Strong Tier 1 instruction frees up the intensive supports for the students who really need them."

How to tell structured literacy is working: When your school barely has enough candidates to fill an Empower group! 😮 (In the past 2 groups weren’t enough for all the needs.) Strong Tier 1 instruction frees up the intensive supports for the students who really need them.

Yes!!!! Early intervention is a MUST!!!!!

If you are welcoming back 1st and 2nd graders that don’t know their letter names and sounds, sound the alarm. Ensure they’ve mastered the alphabetic principle within the first six weeks of school. All other reading and spelling work depends on it. It’s time to # SoRforMore!

Yes, completing assignments is important, but completing assignments will not help students close the gap. Having special ed teachers or interventionists help students complete assignments is not bad, but when it comes to closing the reading gap, it is just cosmetics. Why?…

Every school shooting deserves this kind of unified anger and condemnation. Every mass shooting deserves this kind of unified outrage. Our kids in our schools deserve this kind of solidarity. The perpetual gun violence in our country deserves unified opposition and action.

Ewwww. I just remembered why I got off of Twitter and decreased time on all other social media platforms-esp FB. Yikes. **Going back to family-time and literacy love now.**
