Shadi is spot on, don't demonise Trump voters. Democrats are architects of their own misery. If you fail to motivate your base, worse, give them reasons not to come out for you (Gaza, no progressive vision for economy, etc) don't act surprised if that's not a winning strategy.
If 80 million people voted for Trump, it doesn't mean they want cruelty. That's just a way of demonizing people we disagree with. It means they didn't find Democrats persuasive. That's on Democrats. If so many don't think the system is working for them maybe it's because it isn't
Trump's win should act as a warning to the Labour government: If we fail to address deep-rooted inequality and the cost of living crisis, we risk leaving a void that can be filled by the far-right. When people feel ignored, they look for alternatives.
Turns out there’s a political cost to aiding the genocide of Palestinians. Giving Israel a blank cheque & ignoring massive protests led to this point. Also not being “the bad guy” isn’t enough to beat the far-right. A radical, positive vision is needed & Labour should take note.
