We are *so* excited to announce that our new public mask bank is live! Washtenaw county residents can request FREE kid & adult masks, CR boxes and/or schedule appointments to have their masks fit tested (both qualitative AND quantitative!) washtenawc3.org/mask-bank
Hey those of you who insist you "always mask up around vulnerable people"...prove it. Show me the N95/FFP2+ you safely carry around to pop on when a vulnerable person is present. Also show me how you can tell who's vulnerable. Calling your bluff. PROVE. IT.
If we’re wrong about Covid - the worst that’s happened is we’ve worn a mask and cleaned the air. If others are wrong - they’ve potentially saddled themselves with lifelong chronic health issues. Infected & harmed someone else. They NEED to be right. We WANT to be wrong.
Absolutely not and we’re going to keep giving out as many masks as possible and encouraging people to wear them. The more people choosing to mask, the safer it will be for the people who can’t risk choosing not to.
With 47 coming into power in a few weeks, are you going to stop masking for safety reasons?
HCWs didn’t have a problem masking prior to COVID. Especially in NICU, oncology, transplant and/or around vulnerable patients I never received pushback. Now ALL I get is pushback. Masks were made political & the patients suffer. Wear a mask. It’s the right thing to do.
This is my point. You do not, cannot know when someone is infected or not, so the logical conclusion would be to wear a mask in any setting that you do not have full control of through testings, ventilation, etc. You cannot know. Let that sink in. You have to wear a mask. :)
People still saying COVID is only a problem for the vulnerable…. baby, you’ve had 3-4 infections already.. that’s YOU. You’re the vulnerable 😭
The CDC is still not providing H5N1 vaccines to farmworkers, although farmworkers are at higher risk from H5N1 exposure and often lack access to PPE, healthcare, testing, and sick leave. Tell the CDC to provide farmworkers H5N1 vaccines! Go to bit.ly/h5n1vac
"You test negative on 100% of the COVID tests you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky, maybe
when i was growing up in the 80s/90s, it was well known that the "getting over a cold", "symptoms resolving" phase could be highly contagious & not a reassurance that you are safe to be around ppl. when did that change
ACTION ALERT: Today is the LAST DAY to submit comments to the CDC urging them to recommend universal N95 masking in healthcare settings. You can submit comments directly by email at HICPAC@CDC.gov or via their website form: cdc.gov/hicpac/php/abo…
If you’re still masking - thank you. If you’re cleaning the air - thank you. If you’re staying home when sick - thank you. If you see vulnerable people as worthy of safety & survival - thank you If you’ve refused to toss us aside for “back to normal” - thank you.
Living proof that wearing a mask in public in 2024 is cool, attractive, and most importantly, shows that you care!
words and phrases like “collective care,” “community care,” and honestly even “community” have been entirely compromised in the covid era. if you’re not centering disability justice with a focus on resisting/surviving covid and future pandemics you’re simply peddling platitudes.
it’s all been a rather harrowing journey navigating the rapid disappearance of our collective humanity or rather the masses trading in true care for the community over selfishness and apathy.
Reply guys would say "wastewater isn't accurate" or "that's just viral shedding" (okay?) but let me remind everyone that until testing ramped down prematurely, wastewater was almost exactly 1:1 with cases. It is THE most accurate picture we have. https://t.co/owFUbZAJ44
I mask everywhere I go because you don’t know who’s around you that has disabilities that they can’t acknowledge and address because they don’t have the privilege to Wear a mask is an act of resistance to meet people where they are while not harming them

PMC COVID-19 Forecasting Model, Nov 11, 2024 We're starting to get out 1st glimpse of the shape of the winter wave. 🔸Expected transmission a month from now: 1.3 million daily infections 🔸Best-case: 0.7 million daily infections 🔸Worst-case: 1.8 million daily infections…
There's no liberation in infecting people over and over again with COVID until they die. Anyone genuinely in solidarity would be moving with a sense of care by still masking regardless of vaccination status because everyone can get and spread COVID. If you're not, you need to be.
“Don’t obey in advance” they say with an unmasked face
I love how any discussion of Disability / Ableism immediately makes some people sound indistinguishable from Republicans talking about welfare on some "yeah I'm sure SOME people need support, but how many are just lazy freeloaders?" like ok Ronald Reagan calm down
someone will say something that really just boils down to “community building has to include everyone of all ability levels bc every human life is meaningful” and it’ll make so called community organizers the maddest and meanest they’ve ever been
