The average total cost of a four-year degree from Alabama's two largest PUBLICLY FUNDED universities is more than $100k. And working class people from this state are mad someone gave the students a break. It's really the dumbest of times.

This!

I’ve been telling you guys for weeks that @joebiden’s been getting his mojo back, but damn - I didn’t see this coming! But after a couple of historic months I know this is how he’s feeling! In fact, we’re all feeling it Joe! Now let’s all get to work!

Newsflash to @GOPleader: AG Garland will follow the law. He will not delete texts, burn documents in a fireplace or tear them up a try & flush them down a toilet as happened in the last Administration. And BTW, have you preserved your documents? A grand jury might want to know.

Attorney General Garland: preserve your documents and clear your calendar.

We have to vote against these extremists. The Republican Party you know is gone. These people are a danger to our country.

Yesterday, I along with @RepLauraHallD19, called on Governor Ivey to hold a special session to repeal #HB314, the 2019 Republican anti-abortion law that provides no exceptions or support for women seeking affordable health care. Watch here: bit.ly/3IL7q5c

Hallelujah! This is a big damn deal folks! After nearly 30 years of obstruction, the Senate has reached a bipartisan deal on gun safety. Congratulations and thank you to Sen Murphy, @fred_guttenberg, @JohnCornyn, and everyone who is working together to get it signed into law.

Here it is, folks - the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant piece of anti-gun violence legislation in nearly 30 years. This bill is going to save thousands of lives. 1/ We just released the text. Let me tell you what it does:

It’s just a partial in Lee County with Tallapoosa and Russell having a say. Still, Tom Whatley may be experiencing ‘The Gerald Dial Effect.’ Gerald seemed to do exponentially better the farther away his voters were from where he lived. #ALpolitics

Rep. Chris England, D-Tuscaloosa, is first up. Notes that there are already lawsuits over these bills in other states. "When there's a race to last place, Alabama's going to try to finish first, he said. #alpolitics

For folks that are concerned about the Voting Rights Act, today’s SCOTUS decision means that the canary in the coal mine just died. If there were ever a time for Congress to act on voting rights legislation, now would be it. Make no mistake, this is not a good outcome.

Back in 2020, I wrote a letter to @GovernorKayIvey asking for help in getting rid of Jefferson Davis’s holiday. This session, I am sponsoring HB58 which will get rid of it and replace it with State Employee Appreciation day. It’s time to get this done. #alpolitics

“Instead of trying to figure out an appropriate way to use this revenue for the citizens of Alabama to protect them from this pandemic, we’re spending it on incarceration,” said Rep. Chris England, D-Tuscaloosa. “To me, this is just morally wrong.” trib.al/G5CtLyh

Crumbling infrastructure. Low test scores. Overgrown grass on state property. Closed hospitals. Extremely long waiting list for group homes and mental health. So yeah...spending almost half a billion in prisons shows what the ALGOP really care about.

An Alabama legislative committee met for the first time Tuesday to begin a process that could eliminate racist language from the state Constitution. Alabama’s governing document was explicitly designed to disenfranchise Black Alabamians and poor whites. montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/news/202…
