For those who say that the latest 🇪🇺 enlargement report “shows progress” on 🇬🇪's 🇪🇺 accession track, our sincere advice - “Take off your rosy glasses when reading it”. There is no progress, but a continued stalemate, if not regression.

"2024 enlargement report on 🇬🇪shows backsliding on 4/9 steps conditioned to candidate status. EU leaders decided to stop 🇬🇪’s 🇪🇺accession. EU door remains open & report offers re-engagement if there is will on 🇬🇪side"- said EU Ambassador Herczynski following release of report.

Great honor to meet with @andrii_sybiha Lithuania fully supports Ukraine's Peace Formula and its Victory Plan. 🇺🇦's victory against the aggressor is vital to stop Russia - a direct & the most significant threat to the global democratic community and the rules-based world order.

Meaningful visit to Kyiv - the city of freedom and courage - with @MaJakimavicius Numerous insightful encounters with hopeful and bright Ukrainians & one message: we will stand with Ukraine until its victory- whatever it takes. Thank you for defending our future. Дякуємо! 🇱🇹🫶🇺🇦

When close 🇱🇹🇺🇦 allies are meeting in Kyiv, agenda is simple 👉 defeat & kick-out of ruZZian occupants from 🇺🇦 territory & smooth accession of #Ukraine into #EU & #NATO families. #Lithuania on its part is committed to contribute #WhateverVictoryTakes 🇱🇹🤝🇺🇦✌️

If you ask why Lithuania is so outspoken about the need to contain Russian aggression in Ukraine, it is this. Over 50 years of brutal soviet occupation, we saw the terror, we experienced the oppression, we saw the evil will to destroy our culture & erode everything we had built.

#OTD 73 years ago the 2nd wave of mass deportations of so-called ‘Operation Autumn’ began. Over 16000 of Lithuanians 🇱🇹 were forcibly deported to the remote areas of Siberia by the occupant soviet regime. Many had not returned.

If all NATO members followed Lithuania and increased defence spending to at least 3% of GDP, there would be an extra $270bn available for supporting Ukraine and defending NATO's borders. I hear this is politically "impossible", but here's how Lithuania did it: 🧵1/12
