Modern SBMM has made it near impossible for me to find games in a timely manner, waiting for around 5 mins for a game that will ultimately be "perfect" on paper but unbelievably uneven having 2 players on my team that aren't on the same skill level as me to make the game "even".
Segregating high skill players from the population at large, forcing long wait times on them, is a form of discrimination. Designers should strive to find a way that players of all skill levels can have fun together. Casual, inconsequential Unranked matchmaking is one way.
Your system you created helped me to find games quickly while still maintaining a fun balance between winning and losing. When I lost I just wanted to get better and was actually able to slowly work towards being a better player. Thanks for making the decisions you made :)
The ignorance here is infuriating: gamesradar.com/wanting-an-eve… I see mention of the skill-based matchmaking component I designed for Halo 2 and 3 on this site every so often. It's usually mentioned reverently, but then an outlier jumps in to claim "it can't work today". I disagree.
I hate this so much, literally despise the way modern gaming is. I used to enjoy working towards armour and unlocking it through in game challenges such as achievements. 343 need to make money which is why the MP should not have been F2P, I feel the F2P route has hurt Halo.
