Hearty congratulations to two of the English heralds being appointed to new offices. I have very fond memories of working with them, particularly going through plans in the week of Operation Unicorn. (And now pleased to have been asked to create this artwork to celebrate them)

The Lord Lyon and Officers of Arms of Scotland warml9y congratulate Robert Noel, appointed by the Crown to be Clarenceux King of Arms and Clive Cheesman, appointed to be Norroy and Ulster King of Arms.

I would definitely recommend this @TheHeraldrySoc article about my esteemed colleague, Carrick Pursuivant. And not just for my artwork of her arms, which were an honour to work on. Although unnecessary it was lovely to be thanked with a trip to @signetlibrary for afternoon tea!

We are please to announce The Herald, our blog for all heraldists. Our first article is an interview with @DrGillianBlack otherwise Carrick Pursuivant of Arms at @LyonCourt who sees heraldry as a living thing that should continue to evolve: theheraldrysociety.blogspot.com/2024/10/welcom…

Happy Halloween! Thought I would retweet my heraldic take on the Ghostbusters logo for the occasion!

Really enjoyed the new Ghostbusters film, and it got me thinking how easily that iconic logo could be adapted into heraldry. So of course I had to give it a go: Sable, a spectre affronte Argent debruised by a bend sinister Gules, all within a bordure of the last.

Infamy! It turns out my photo is on display in the @TowerOfLondon! An amusing discovery in the Crown Jewels display whilst on a family trip (images here found online (see bottom right of tabard display case)). Thanks to the staff who said how nice it was to have a herald visit!

It was a very rare honour to be invited, as a cross-border representative, to @CarlisleCath for the Opening of the Legal Year by the High Sheriff of Cumbria, who also asked me to lead the Procession and placed me in the 'Castle Chair' which is replete with Regimental Heraldry

This weekend I was tickled to discover one of my first ever flag designs - an unadopted proposal for Halesowen - had been pressed into service as the pumpclip of a new beer at @RobertosBarHale Thanks to @LC30428 for spotting it and I wish fair winds to all who raise a glass 🍻🎌

Thanks to @BothwellChurch for their hospitality in hosting us today. It was a long but very productive day and it was great to see that the local schools really took on board my advice on flag design.

The Court's Vexillologist returned to Bothwell today for the next step in their community flag competition; the judging panel. It took over 4 hours of deliberation to get through all the entries, with a huge number submitted by the local schools. Voting will open later this year.

Creating family memories by making sandcastles on this beautiful, tranquil and quiet beach in the South of Scotland was a perfect way to unwind following the end of my employment. For an hour or two I had no worries in the world

When choosing which court sword to get me for my birthday my wife opted for this one featuring the royal cypher of Queen Elizabeth II, as a nod to my part two years ago today in her funeral. A very fitting choice and one that has brought back lots of memories today.

My lovely family & friends clubbed together to get me my own court sword for my (not insignificant) birthday. So of course I couldn't resist a properly 80s dramatic photo with it here in the Scottish Uplands!

For #StarTrekDay here is my own simple artwork of the single nacelle variant of my Herald Class design that @ScorpionDesign_ previously realised As today is also the anniversary of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, it seems fitting to christened this the Elizabeth Class

The USS March, an illustration/design commissioned by the lovely @VexTibbetts! Amusingly, the second class of ship to be called 'Herald' that I've worked on as a commission :)

For #MerchantNavyDay today I have the historic house flags of the Glen Line, whom my wife's family have links to, flying proudly beside the Red Duster

The Lord Lyon held a Head Court at the Court of Session yesterday during which Sheriff George Way of Plean was sworn in as Rothesay Herald.
