i think honestly the majority of fandom problems today come down to a lot of these people do not want to be in fandom. they have no interest in engaging with the material beyond regurgitating what is explicitly given in canon. that’s where their enjoyment starts and stops

The funny thing is all we have to do to disprove that fictional tastes equate to irl tastes is look at all the asexual folks who are sex repulsed irl, but LOVE sex in fiction. They literally prove that what you like in fiction does not translate to the real world.

something i don't see talked about much is that, rare, but sometimes survivors aren't stupid. sometimes they are doing something purely out of altruism (trying for the facecamp unhook). i get frustrated too but it's also one of the few endearing things left about this game.
