Correction. The first internment camps were created in the 1880s called Indian reserves which cleared the lands for European settlement. #IndianAct

Today in 1914, the 1st internment camp opened near Montreal. By the end of the year, 12 internment camps were operating in Canada. These camps held people deemed "enemy aliens", who were mostly immigrants who came to Canada to homestead. Learn more 👇 canadaehx.com/2022/03/08/can…

Wow, you really did it Alberta. You elected a residential school denialist, found to breech the Conflict of Interest Act, who repeatedly said she will make you pay for health care Premier. A party with blatant transphobia, racism, literal violence, and corruption. Wow. Good luck.

*white women

On this day in 1929, women were first recognized as “persons” in Canada. While this decision paved the way for women's increased participation in public and political life, it did not include Indigenous women and women of Asian heritage and descent.

Don’t make the terrible mistake of blaming ethnic Russians in America for the atrocities of the Russian nation. I’ve personally witnessed where that can lead, and I’ve sworn to help ensure it never happens again.
