Horror fans who voted for Trump fundamentally misunderstand what the genre is really saying. Two of this year’s best releases were firmly, explicitly about body autonomy.
Horror has quite literally always been a female and LGBT lead and created genre, across every medium. Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and Oscar Wilde, the people who created Frankenstein, Dracula and Dorian Gray, were all gay or bisexual.
