In an enslaved world, slaves are bragging about how many hours they have worked (Germany); in a free world, free men are bragging about how much time they spend doing useless things like philosophizing, making art, and sports (ancient Greece).


It makes me happy to see that my Ukrainian neighbor's jolly children are singing and jumping around in our garden. They remind me of my childhood, when my brother and I were living in a women's shelter for a few years, not knowing why we were there but playing games regardless.


Reading Yeat's Irish plays leaves you with an eerie sense of uneasiness.  They really would make for great folk horror indie movies. The Land of Heart's Desire, directed by Robert Eggers, when?
