The first video game-themed Happy Meal was the SUPER MARIO BROS 3 set from 1990. It had one of the sweetest countertop displays ever… how could a kid resist this?!?!
I know this sounds weird but I think this is actually smart design wise. Given how much Piglet suffers from anxiety this is actually a really good way for people to empathize with how scary his perception of reality is. Even though his fears are exaggerated they’re real to him.
The more I learn about the Piglet game the more it becomes abundantly clear that the devs were dead set on making an atmospheric horror game and didn’t care if it was going to be set in the Winnie the Poo universe. I respect that uncompromising determination so much.
This game uses fixed camera setups and sound design to inject horror into completely innocent children's cartoon designs more effectively than most mascot horror games. Like how in this room you hear the heffalumps loudly before you can see them.
