🧵Yesterday the Victims & Prisoners Bill had it's second reading in the House of Lords. I want to see this Bill meet the needs of all victims of domestic abuse. Thank you @BishopNewcastle for calling for changes that would allow all victims to report to police without fear. 1/4

Investment in the domestic abuse sector could bring savings of £23 billion per year. To be clear that's £23,000,000,000 in public savings, ready to save lives and reduce strain on public services like the NHS. Call on party leaders to invest today➡️ ow.ly/sRn950Qgi7x

Research from @CommissionerDA reveals that 89% of Domestic Homicide Reviews reported prior domestic abuse, showing that vital lessons to prevent future deaths aren't being actioned. The launch of a national oversight mechanism to hold agencies to account is welcome and needed.

Today I publish new research which shows that the vast majority of victims and perpetrators were known to services before a domestic homicide. Any life lost to domestic homicide is a tragic failure by systems. We must do more to protect victims and prevent future deaths. (1/4)
