Olympic athlete #SimoneBiles, the most decorated American gymnast in history, has ADHD — as do many other Olympic athletes. Many athletes with ADHD have said that playing sports has allowed them an outlet and the ability to leverage the "superpowers" mentioned by Biles.
Orlando Bloom has spoken about living and performing with dyslexia. Though he worried about missing lines, he let his creativity guide him on stage. Once in drama school, he was taught that conveying the emotions of a line was more important than reciting it correctly.
CA recognizes July as Disability Pride Month and celebrates the many ways people living with disabilities — whether visible or invisible, mobility or cognitive, vision or hearing, learning or sensory, developmental or acquired — add to the diversity and strength of our state.

We've concluded our first year with our student ambassadors from high schools across California. They've showcased dedication and passion, setting a precedent for continued collaboration and student leadership in support of diverse learning needs across the state.
Sustainable system change requires an intersegmental approach that builds on the skills, motivation, and inspiration of individuals serving young people. Creating a direct connection between research, practice, and policy is essential to create this system of sustainable change.
