Dr. Larry Hartzell, professor of otolaryngology and Director of the Cleft Lip and Palate Program at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, recently traveled to Guayaquil, Ecuador, on a global humanitarian surgical trip. They provided surgeries for children with cleft conditions and more.

Cardiovascular Medicine Fellows, including Dr. Malek Alaiwah, Dr. Nikhila Ghanta, Dr. Sandeep Randhawa, and Dr. Christine Rutlen, recently volunteered with fellowship program manager Katie Jones at the Arkansas Foodbank. Together, they packaged over one thousand pounds of rice!

UAMS's own Dr. Joseph Henske and Dr. Ples Spradley recently ran the 2024 Chicago Marathon as part of the Breakthrough T1D team. Breakthrough T1D is the world’s leading research and advocacy organization for type 1 diabetes. They raised over $4,000 to support research.
