Made 2 terrestrial 10 GHz QSOs this evening to Dallas (~230 miles). The good view definitely made it a lot easier.

Since the weather was so nice here, figured I’d get the pieces together to have 6-432 on the van.

Been doing a lot of work the last couple weeks. Got the van interior nearly complete. Took it out for a test drive to make sure everything stayed in place before some more serious trips next month.

Still a work in progress, but far enough along in the restoration that I was able to get on the air in the driveway. Set up to run at least 8 hours on battery with the AC running and running legal limit power on 6. Onboard generator can recharge batteries in 3 hours.

Getting closer to completing the rolling mega station.

Well that was fun: pulled the Nycoil tubing off the van mast, zip tied it straight to the fence and pulled out at least 15 cables from when it was in OB service. Reran a rotor control cable, a spare 8 conductor 16 awg cable and a single LMR-600 run.

The new rolling ham station has been acquired.

I can get on Greencube from Oklahoma (EM26) when I get back from vacation on Feb 2 for those looking for it.

Just made my first 70cm EME QSO this evening. The setup works great on terrestrial and not too shabby on EME.

After several months of work, it’s finally done - a mobile 1500 watt 6 meter machine!

Took the mast up to 53 feet as a test. It’s pretty stable but probably will add some extendable outriggers for more stability.

Mast is vertical! Got some more work to do to fully secure it before testing it out.

Thanks to some @WyattAC0RA ideas and engineering, this will be mounted this week to a hybrid cargo/utility trailer for portable use. Having 7 elements on 6 meters at 53 ft is gonna be insane for next year.

Hopped between Colorado and New Mexico with a bonus of two different grids and only had to move about 50 feet.

EME roving is crazy compared to satellite. Testing everything before tomorrow morning so there hopefully aren’t any surprises.

I’m going to be out doing some 902 MHz EME in DM86 and brought the Arrow for some sat work there’s any interest.

Just fired up the new setup and worked Argentina on 6 meters. Having to “borrow” power from the dryer receptacle for maximum fun. 🤣

Since moving out of Alaska, haven’t been totally away from radio. A few other projects have consumed a lot of time

A bit rusty trying to work IO-117 from the backyard tonight.
