I created Turtle A Day for two reasons. 1. To raise awareness about how awesome turtles are. 2. To make people happy. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, and I hope that the turtles on this page make you, and will continue to make you happy. #WSPD2019

Another successful rescue operation by our team in Bocas del Toro, Panama! Unfortunately almost every day fishermen on the Bocas beaches are hunting sea turtles, but thanks to the collab between residents and the Bocas Police, two adult female green turtles could be rescued!

This is a Painted Wood Turtle (Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima) from Central America. Its name is fitting as it really does look like this turtle has been painted! As they get older, they lose their color and vibrancy, but with a little water their brilliant colors come back to life! 🎨
