Fascinated by the rich heritage of our waterside village on the SW Coastal Path. Shipbuilding, quarrying, pilots, ferrymen, coastguards and lots more!

You’ve heard of the ‘long 18th century’, now get ready for the ‘long 2020’.

#OnThisDay 1759 the light was first lit at the 3rd Eddystone Light. Designed by John Smeaton, it safeguarded the approach to @HMNBDevonport . It was in replaced in the 1870's and was moved ashore to Plymouth Hoe where it has been an iconic landmark since.

View from Turnchapel towards Plymouth and The Sound. Wonder how this view has changed in the 220ish years this house has stood here. #history #landscape #heritage #plymouth

Lovely view of our listed Boringdon Terrace and the conservation area.

The humans have made some adjustments and I’m back to collecting data about the ocean and sailing through the sea all by myself (with the not-so-secret stowaway @artiehassevenlegs). Soon we will be doing sea trials around the UK. Next year I’ll be back to crossing the Atlantic!

Any excuse to put our @1620_plymouth banners up! This time for the 2021 Turnchapel sailing regatta. Brilliant day and reviving an old Turnchapel event was special.

#turnchapel doing what we can to pay our respects to all those who lost their lives last week and their families. Still reeling and still failing to comprehend but determined to stand together. #PlymouthTogether #loveturnchapel

Three sheets to the wind today refers to being intoxicated however it has nautical origins and refers to loose lines (sheets) securing sails becoming loose and endangering the ship. Don’t try to over-correct though as you might find yourself sailing ‘Too close to the wind’
