You’ve heard of the ‘long 18th century’, now get ready for the ‘long 2020’.
Amazing image of the #Cattewater this morning captured by @rob_still You can just make out Sea Shannon arriving into the port from Saint Brieuc. #Plymouth #sunrise #shipping
Stunning sunrise this morning over Plymouth seen from Oreston - the sea mist following the route of the Tamar. #plymouth #oceancity #devon #sunrise #autumn
#OnThisDay 1759 the light was first lit at the 3rd Eddystone Light. Designed by John Smeaton, it safeguarded the approach to @HMNBDevonport . It was in replaced in the 1870's and was moved ashore to Plymouth Hoe where it has been an iconic landmark since.
View from Turnchapel towards Plymouth and The Sound. Wonder how this view has changed in the 220ish years this house has stood here. #history #landscape #heritage #plymouth
Lovely view of our listed Boringdon Terrace and the conservation area.
The humans have made some adjustments and I’m back to collecting data about the ocean and sailing through the sea all by myself (with the not-so-secret stowaway @artiehassevenlegs). Soon we will be doing sea trials around the UK. Next year I’ll be back to crossing the Atlantic!
Any excuse to put our @1620_plymouth banners up! This time for the 2021 Turnchapel sailing regatta. Brilliant day and reviving an old Turnchapel event was special.
A delight to display the Turnchapel banners today for the @PlymArchSoc Plymouth 1620 symposium. @TurnchapelPast @HeritageFundUK @mayflower400uk
#turnchapel doing what we can to pay our respects to all those who lost their lives last week and their families. Still reeling and still failing to comprehend but determined to stand together. #PlymouthTogether #loveturnchapel

Lovely to see the new plaque at the reburial site at Plymouth's Ford Park Cemetery for 17th century remains found at Turnchapel, thought to be those of dockworkers #local #community #heritage #plymouth #loveturnchapel #history
Really enjoyed taking a history walk around my village yesterday evening for @PlymArchSoc Sun coming out was a bonus too #local #community #heritage #lifelonglearning #loveturnchapel
Lovely to share recent finds @DevonHeritage and @theboxplymouth with @TurnchapelPast yesterday. Shipbuilding, timber, chapels...all helping to piece together the fragments of our past. #local #community #heritage #plymouth
Three sheets to the wind today refers to being intoxicated however it has nautical origins and refers to loose lines (sheets) securing sails becoming loose and endangering the ship. Don’t try to over-correct though as you might find yourself sailing ‘Too close to the wind’
