Follow us to learn details as they emerge from high court proceedings due to be lodged against Fridays of Cranbrook that will also involve the @BEICTeam Find out why multiple farms and hundreds of innocent consumers became infected with salmonella & how it could have been avoided

The Lion is misleading consumers as to its #foodsafety record. You are statisically more likely to contract salmonella from Lion eggs than eggs bought direct from a farm. Protracted supply chains need management and the Lion code fails to deliver basic food safety standards.

Consumers are being misled over imported egg used as ingredients according to a new survey by Lion @BEICTeam #eggs poultrynews.co.uk/news/consumers…

The UK has world beating welfare standards & it has a world beating egg safety system, problem is that it doesnt enforce it when it comes to its packers. The UK has high levels of salmonella BECAUSE of the Lion code & the actions of some of its subscribers #salmonella #foodsafety

This post is unavailable.

The 200+ consumers who fell ill through salmonella enteriditis whole genome sequence cluster 2669 infections from 2017-2020 are being encouraged to step forward as their illness was avoidable. #publichealth #salmonella press release due soon

This Twitter account has learnt that an egg producer is to issue High Court proceedings against Fridays of Cranbrook to recover damages caused to his business through the uncontrolled spread of salmonella through Fridays supply chain. @BEICTeam were complicit in the cover up.

Did you know in 2019/20 you were selling #salmonella contaminated eggs & customers were falling ill @tesco @asda @Morrisons @sainsburys @LidlGB @AldiUK @marksandspencer? whats worse is that the @BEICTeam knew all about it & endorsed it #coverup #publichealth #truthwilloutsoon

2 years ago it was discovered through whole genome sequencing that Fridays of Cranbrook were the ONLY link in 4 farm cases of salmonella & over 40 human cases. It continued to pack eggs in a contaminated facility & 3 further farms & over 200 humans were infected with same strain

Its a shame that this man doesnt hold his own organisation to account. The BEIC management of salmonella, cared more for its own subscribers than it did for consumers. #salmonella cases proliferated while Williams protected his paymasters

In his latest comment piece for Poultry Business magazine, @BEICTeam chief executive Mark Williams says after a challenging year for the #egg sector, he will continue to hold the #government to account poultrynews.co.uk/business-polit…

recent FOI requests suggest that during a series of #salmonella outbreaks in 2019 that @BEICTeam and Fridays were more concerned about protecting their reputation than protecting #publichealth #foodsafety #eggs

FOI requests show 190 human cases of salmonella enteriditis between 21st October 2020 & 5th January 2021. will the Lion Code ever get rid of salmonella? unlikely while owned by the egg packers & they protect their own before consumers. #eggs #publichealth #foodsafety

: kentonline.co.uk/weald/news/cam…. Fridays should be doing all they can to improve hygiene in their farms. Combewell Farm was culled in September 2019 due to a salmonella outbreak. The 6th (known) farm outbreak in their supply chain @AnimalAid #eggs #foodsafety #publichealth #salmonella

what is factual is that Fridays culled a massive farm in the summer of 2019 due to a salmonella outbreak in their supply chain that affected several farms and hundreds of people, large supply chains have caused human and animal health issues. #salmonella #publichealth #eggs

They also own a large proportion of the BEIC that controls the Lion Code, you would think that would mean that salmonella would be controlled in their supply chain but wait.... thegrocer.co.uk/food-safety/fs… #salmonella #foodsafety #publichealth

We control every process at our family farm – from chick, to feed, to delicious egg... 🍳 #fairburnseggs #britisheggs #eggs #lincolnshireeggs #lincsfood #lincolnshire #proudtofarm

A responsibility gap means @foodsafetygov dont monitor hygiene in packing centres & @APHAgovuk have no jurisdiction meanwhile salmonella has been allowed to proliferate in two LION egg packers that led to over 200 human cases #publichealth #salmonella

Not only viruses spread by factory farms and industrial supply chains but bacterial diseases too. The food system needs a fundamental shift to local, seasonal and direct supply to consumers, farm based businesses can protect #PublicHealth reduce #salmonella & ensure #foodsafety

The Lion code continues to add layers of red tape onto producers yet fails to stop salmonella from being moved by the supply chain. The focus of attention needs to be on packers, tray washing systems etc. #publichealth #Salmonella #foodsafety Buy eggs from farms, not supermarkets

There were 270 reported human cases of all strains of Salmonella Enteritidis in England reported from 1st September 2020 to 20th October 2020, the overwhelming number of farm cases are on Lion approved premises #foodsafety #publichealth #salmonella

mega farms create external costs (that society pays) in reduced welfare, increased pollution & reduced food safety These farms & their supply chains increase risk of infection of all kinds @rspcaassured how can you support these farms? #salmonella #publichealth #externalcosts

Reed Court Farm on banks of River Beult in Kent was once a showpiece traditional farm with visitor trails, orchards, hops and livestock. It is now proposed to fence it off, re-route footpaths and install intensive units for 192,000 free range chickens. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9…
