Spent nearly 30 years as a police officer investigating crime. Can't recall a single instance where anyone pleaded guilty to & got convicted for 'a genuine mistake'. Nor would a solicitor advise you to plead guilty to a demonstrably genuine mistake. Doesn't happen.
