What are your male uniform requirements in primary? Anyone still required to dress like a businessman to teach 5-11 years olds? What would you like to see moving forwards?

Richmond half marathon! My first ever one! In the past month, I’ve turned 30, gone through a break-up and completed a HALF MARATHON!!!!!!!! A decent time too, I’ll take that. 🏅🏅🏅🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🥰

Also my work family have really helped me through this week! Really appreciate how strong our staff team is recently 💗

Had such good parents conference meetings today! Talking about starting Reception came naturally after the first few - and lots of positive feedback too! (Also managed to stay ahead of time on EVERY parent - new record ✨)

I've come to realise what a significant difference one individual can make in a school. One person can change staff motivation/feeling/ethos; for better or for worse.

This has been the worst half term for so many reasons. Really looking forward to Monday back at school to take my mind off it.

Tell me why I’ve had my best two days teaching of the term in WEEK 8?! Systems in place, great books (this week - the colour monster), amazing teamwork. Reception are still going strong! 🤩💪🏻

Some activities this week in EYFS!

This is going to be an absolute must read for anyone in EY/KS1, or for any Eng leads (or just anyone in education tbh)

Oh my goodness, my book is available on Amazon for pre-order. I'm actually crying 😭 I can't believe I actually have a real book. The Power of Words: Developing a Vocabulary Rich Culture in Reception amzn.eu/d/eBrkkIk

We started Stickman today! Tomorrow - our first trip to the park to find our own sticks to make a stick family.

⭐️Positive moments🌟 today: finding opportunities to extend learning role playing with a girl today (she went to get the sand timers to time her food cooking); half way through baselines (yay!); kids know each other better - my class actually felt like a class today!

Phonics people (specifically RWI): how realistic is it to expect Y1 pupils on ditty or Set 1B/C sounds to pass phonics screening check?

⭐️Positive⭐️ moments today: much more familiar with routines; their first lunchtime was also complete success; successful planning session with partner teacher; got to know each child a bit better with name writing assessment!

Aiming to post ⭐️positive⭐️ moments each day for a week. #1: sat in our reading corner to read with one boy, a large group migrates to join in with bear hunt. #2: one child’s massive progress at remaining on the carpet compared to yesterday!

First full morning with the entire class of Reception today! Organised carnage, loved it. Only one set of tears. Lots asking when it was home time by 9:30AM but I won’t take that as an insult to my teaching! 🤣 Friday will be the full day - check I’m still standing please!

First time I’ve set up a classroom and ever felt like I’m making 0 process throughout the whole day! Setting up a reception classroom is HARD!

Anyone else having the intense pre-work dreams this last week? Going in today to sort some stuff out and hope alleviate them!
