Two new manuscripts on @arxiv in which we (with @sensemolen, @j_jobst et al.) use our @SPECS_GmbH Low-Energy Electron Microscope at @LeidenPhysics to image domain boundaries in bilayer #graphene, doing a deep dive into the contrast mechanisms and morphology of the domains 1/n.
Klopt. Weg is weg!
First paper in a new area of expertise: submitted🥳 Stay tuned...
TIL: using VLC with @nvidia hardware decoding for video playback saves me 30W of power compared to the @ubuntu default video player without hardware support. Getting it tear free in fullscreen mode is a whole other can of worms though.
Variation of #moiré patterns, caused by local twist angle variations in twisted bilayer #graphene near the magic angle (1.05°)🪄 False-color Low-Energy EM (#LEEM) image, taken on the ESCHER LEEM at @UniLeidenNews by Tobias A. de Jong (@TobiasAdeJong @LeidenPhysics) @ProjectNemi
If your article has been picked as an Editor's suggestion, it’s bound to be good! 🎉 @TobiasAdeJong and colleagues published in @PhysRevMater and got this special recognition. They analysed graphene grown on silicon carbide. Read the article now: journals.aps.org/prmaterials/ab…
Uncovering the hidden complexities of #graphene on silicon carbide! Researchers from @LeidenPhysics & @IBMResearch use advanced #microscopy techniques to reveal the intricate network of stacking domains and dislocations in this two-dimensional #material journals.aps.org/prmaterials/
All wrapped up and ready to go! Today the low-energy electron microscope is moved to the new measurement hall. #movingday
This picture may look pretty, but the ripples caused me some optimization headaches that took me way too long to localize. Discretization errors can be tricky😅
