We have the answer. In a shock to no one, hand-written cards does not prevail over 6 figures of marketing. I will not be joining the State Legislature for this upcoming session. A few thoughts about our election system...

Ah, I see the nominations have begun and we've reached for the stars with the weiner-and-coke-but-not-the-fiscally-prudent-inflation-fighting-$1.50-Costco variety.
This is a reasonable political philosophy. Much more responsible than the other wiener and coke crowd.
Am I going to have to bring out the Susan Collins Magic 8 ball again?
You all need to set your expectations to "comic book villains"
It's that time of year. Have you gotten supplies for a #KindnessKit (or three) to keep in your vehicle? It's good to have in the event of emergency for yourself, as well as to hand out to others in need.
If you can afford it, it's time to keep a few kits in your car for fellow humans on hard times: Warm hat Scarf 2 pairs gloves 2 pairs socks Baby wipes Travel toothbrush & toothpaste Norwegian formula balm Cough drops Deodorant Small first aid kits Hot Hands warming packs Snacks
This is a reasonable political philosophy. Much more responsible than the other wiener and coke crowd.
if my only worry was the economy I’d probably vote for the Costco ceo who has managed to keep a hot dog and a pop $1.50 since the 80s
As someone who did a 8,000+ mile road trip this summer with our boys, we live in an incredibly vast country. I don't think folks realize how vast unless/until they do the journey themselves.
Following this illiterate guy on ig who decided to skateboard across america a couple weeks ago and left his house in LA w one change of clothes and no money expecting it to take like 2 weeks. He was so surprised when he found out the rocky mountains exist. Really good content
I heard a lot of this, though mostly not using this language. Folks would talk about how they kept hearing about a great economy, but it wasn't great for them, and they felt like no one heard them.
The COVID-era boosts to SNAP, UI, CTC, and child care went away. Medicaid unwound. Food costs spiraled. Interest rates doubled. Measures of material hardship worsened. And Democrats pointed to headline figures showing a boom. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
In hindsight, being a divorce attorney sending several thousand of my closest neighbors my office phone number in advance of an election where a party smitten with the idea of ending no-fault divorce prevailed was probably not my wisest life choice.
I hand-wrote a card to 88.9% of voters, did a couple of online Q&As, had a whole bunch of stuff online about my views (website, youtube, Twitter, insta/threads, ballotpedia, etc), went to community events. What do we think I could have done differently to get 279 more votes?
It's #SundayCheckIn for 11/10. How was your week? How are you holding up? What do you need? What are you struggling with? What has helped? What kindness would help you? Remember to wash your sheets.
This isn't a fair criticism. Kids listen to parents talk about their profession and niche interests. Our boys can discuss a wide range of topics related to my profession way beyond their years. It doesn't mean that they aren't well-adjusted...it means they talk to their mom.
Well-adjusted 12 year olds don’t think about politics this way. They aren’t mulling doomsday scenarios about the president—or thinking about the president at all. Public figures need to stop using their children as a part of their fearmongering. It’s not OK.
Many folks have split up the past couple of years - between the cost of housing and the cost of food, the pain is *PROFOUND* when trying to manage that new reality. It was so very insensitive to brag about macro level statistics when the micro lived experience was dire for many.
Profoundly unserious analysis. So it's only people's *perception* that they're hungry and can't afford groceries? stephensemler.com/p/food-prices-…
I never envisioned that chores for my children would involve one called "murder pile"* *pile of corpses in the half basement replenished throughout the week by drama cat #HappyCaturday
