Astatic synabar microphone ad from back in the day. This one is actually a crystal mic based on the Brush patents. Crystal mics were very popular because of their high output, but the crystal itself (Rochelle salt) generally didn't stand the test of time

Movie set in 1932 with a very early and rare production condenser microphone. We have that mic here in the studio and it's a heavy beast. The metal cylinder contains a tube amplifier.

American D5T microphone and Francis Langford in the 1930s. Francis popularized the song "I'm in the mood for love" Strange but true- I knew Francis and lived aboard her yacht "Chanticleer" at the Outrigger in Jensen Beach for a time. I also have a few D5T mics.

Sylvia shows everyone how she mixed the Jason Isbell song "Miles" from his recent Weathervanes record, and at the 38 minute mark I talk about a couple of vintage microphones we have here in the museum youtube.com/watch?v=s1Ai-4…

I'm surrounded by vintage microphones every day!

Our collection of old German mics is growing! Can you name them? Can you figure out which ones are missing? See more museum photos here >>> bit.ly/3WSSpWb @neumann @akg @microtechgefell @vintagemics @paquettecollection @johnsonpaquettecollection

I'm not surprised to see the warm response to this record, it's simply great! I especially like the background vocals on "If You Insist" but perhaps I'm a bit biased.
