Join me in telling your Members of Congress that #CareCantWait and all families need paid leave and high-quality, affordable child care thinkbabies.org/take-action-em…

AND pay those early care educators a worthy wage

analysis from the National Women's Law Center and Columbia University found that access to affordable childcare doesn't just benefit children; it could boost lifetime earnings for women with two children by $94,000" Learn more: bit.ly/2RLYCFG #CareInfrastructure

I once had a child who arrived at 8:30, had breakfast, went into a little tent and slept till pickup—care is essential ❤️

Teachers: when a student is repeatedly falling asleep in class (like multiple times in one day), do you ever just let them sleep? Sometimes I do. This poor baby can’t keep his eyes open. His home is a dumpster fire and it’s peaceful here. I hope he enjoys his 30 min nap ♥️

Yes! Focus on the system to change the system

Yes! We CAN value ALL the humans ❤️❤️❤️

Also, ahem, the Lanham Act #childcareisinfrastructure

Where are children learning? Wherever children are. #CareANDEducation are always together ❤️

It’s not pre-K unless it’s from the pre-K region of France. Otherwise it’s just sparkling child care.

#CareIsEssential #EarlyCareAndEducation wherever children are, learning is happening

Is there any chance we could stop treating “child care” and “pre-K” as different things? A child doesn’t magically start ‘preparing’ for school at age 3 or 4, & a huge number of 3 and 4 year olds attend centers or family child care homes. It’s an unhelpful and artificial wedge.

Another dangerous narrative involves the use of the antiquated term “daycare” to refer to the experiences very young children are having when not together with their parents. 🤯🤯🤯#Care #CareAndEducation

obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2015/01/2…. Did you know that child care funded by the Lanham Act had significant outcomes for kids & moms? It was pretty simple moms at all income levels who needed it had access to high quality child care that they could afford.

“I’m less concerned with getting ahead than I am with all of us getting by.” #ChildCareIsEssential

Make no mistake: This pandemic has set women back, with lifetime consequences. We need big, structural change to tackle this crisis head on—like universal child care, universal pre-k, and paid leave. thecut.com/article/covid-…

.@HouseDemWomen is leading the charge for $100B in reconciliation to not only stabilize child care but move toward universal care. Child care was broken before the pandemic & is now hanging on by a thread. For our kids, economy, gender & racial justice, we need structural change!

Care AND Education, birth to 20 #ChildCareIsEasential

Educators are part of the front line, essential workforce, whether they teach toddlers or 12 yr olds, whether they teach in their home, a child care center or a school building. I hope all who are advocating for priority access for vaccines for educators keep this in mind.

One upside of the high turnover in early care education is that we can trust there are a lot of people in a lot of other roles now who care about people and about helping each other!

Why is the prenatal-to-3 age period so important? New brief from @pn3policy explores the research on the developing brain and body during the earliest years and what it means for parents, caregivers, and systems pn3policy.org/resources/why-…

“COVID costs” are not the problem, they are a symptom. Child care is built and funded on the backs of women and children.
