#FollowFriday thanks @Hope4Siblings @TheAutismNerd - top Influencers members this week :)

it also includes step by step tips on how to effectively get your child into daily routines in the home, how to plan for outdoor trips, holidays, medical appointments, school holidays, understanding EHCP plans & what to do post-16.

i used to engage in a lot of general autism awareness but narrowed audience down to those who need it the most. changed 'awareness' to 'knowledge'. my training for families doesn't make you aware of a condition but literally teaches you about the condition in detail

if anyone is able to facilitate this, im more than happy to participate/offer my help/knowledge/experience.

I've noticed a lot of somali professionals in mental health/medicine/psychology departments are calling for greater awareness of autism within somali communities. It would be a great idea if we all got together and possibly held an event to address this

Every single time

do you ever pretend like you didn’t see something so the other person doesn’t feel embarrassed

there are interventions specifically designed to restrain & physically control disabled children. They mostly need it in school... ofc

That’s challenging & burdensome enough for the Neurotypical child. Imagine one who struggles with socialising, communication, sensory issues

Wake up early in the morning every weekday for 11yrs to a building where you’re forced to sit in a chair for 6hours

And schools have tried hard for decades to adjust education to children with disabilities, education isn’t the big challenge, schooling is

I used to want to be an ASD teacher, my years in & out of school with autistic children led me to think “schooling” is torturous for them

If laziness & bad organisation doesnt get the best of me I’ll be trying to share as much as I can through tweets & monthly posts

Hi everyone. I’ve been quiet on this account for a while for various reasons but I’m going to be picking it up quite soon

If you're Muslim & in anyway involved with autistic children (family member/teacher/other professional). Pls dm me (research purposes) RT

But, we mustn't forget that an aversion to social interaction is different from an impairment to socially interacting.

I have a theory that extreme introversion could easily be added as a sub branch of #autism in the new DSM's to come
